Therapy After Cancer · Crystal Mattox, LMFT
Cancer can change how you feel in your body, in your relationships, and in the life you thought you knew. Find space for the fear, exhaustion, grief, and uncertainty—with a therapist who brings professional care and her own lived experience of cancer.
From diagnosis through treatment and life beyond it. For individuals, partners, and loved ones.

“After”
doesn’t only mean after treatment ends. It means after the moment a diagnosis changes your life. Whether you were just diagnosed, are in the middle of treatment, or are living with what comes next, you belong here.
Not everyone’s experience is the same. But you might recognize some of this:
You don’t have to make your feelings easier for anyone else here.

Meet Crystal
I’m Crystal Mattox, a licensed marriage and family therapist and a survivor of thyroid and ovarian cancer. I have experienced chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and the fear and uncertainty that can come with cancer.
My experience doesn’t tell me what yours has been like. But it is part of why I care so deeply about creating room for the things that can be difficult to say out loud.
You may feel frightened, angry, disconnected, hopeful—or several things at once. We can begin wherever you are.
I
Space to explore fear, uncertainty, grief, identity, body changes, and the emotional weight of treatment and survivorship.
II
Support for conversations about closeness, intimacy, changing roles, different coping styles, and what each person needs.
III
Space for the people supporting someone with cancer to explore their own fear, exhaustion, boundaries, and needs.
Crystal is a certified Emotionally Focused Therapist. In plain terms, that means paying close attention to what you feel—and to the patterns of connection with yourself and the people closest to you.
Together, you can explore what’s happening underneath the surface: the fear behind irritability, the loneliness inside a full house, the needs that are hard to name. The work is collaborative, and it moves at your pace.
There is no required way to feel about cancer, and no performance of positivity expected here.

No. You’re welcome to reach out from diagnosis onward—during treatment, after treatment, or while living with ongoing uncertainty.
Partners and loved ones are welcome to inquire about support for themselves.
You don’t need to feel a certain way to seek support. Therapy can make room for complicated and conflicting feelings.
Crystal’s practice includes couples therapy. Reach out to talk with her about what you’re both looking for.
No. This is psychotherapy for the emotional and relational impact of cancer. Questions about medical treatment belong with your oncology team.
